Introduction:
Our department started to get more and more training tasks for our 1st level support and authorized service partners. To be able to cover these tasks in the best possible way we decided to get some help in how to prepare and execute high class training and also add extra value to our personal development as a Canon employee. We also wanted our employees to get more involved and engaged in our internal training tasks.  As we are a big organisation we specified our needs to our internal Learning and Development Department and asked them to find a suitable partner for our requests.

Setup and Execution:
After our Learning and Development Department had chosen a suitable partner we received a pre-introduction on how to move forward directly from our new training partner, Pieterman. Here we could easily find an overview on what were coming such as; identified needs, interviews, pre-assignment and pre training agenda. After this, the trainer himself started the interview phase with half of the participants to further streamline the agenda to the specific needs. These interviews worked very well and all of the participants came back with a positive attitude towards the coming training, and this was of course a confirmation for us as managers that we hade made the right decision about the training and picked the right partner for the task.

After the interviews all participants received an invitation containing all information regarding the coming training and also a pre-assignment to prepare before the first training session. This made most of the participants mentally prepared and eager to start… 
The information also gave a clear view of what to expect during the training days.

When the training started we were divided into two small groups with 6 participants in each group, The trainer became involved in each participant in order to deliver tailor-made training for each one of them. In our opinion it worked excellent due to the trainer showed tremendous people skill. All participants were very positive after each session and wanted to know what will happen on the next session. Different techniques were used also to suite the interactivity in the training to each individual, as we are all different in our approaches due to different backgrounds, cultures, social skills etc. The trainer showed great skills in interacting with the groups and dealing with different characteristics and with his ability to customize the training sessions along the course which resulted in that we all could get out what we needed.  

The feeling from all of the participants were that everyone were really committed to have a successful training and outcome of this resulted in no one was holding back. This made all the interactive parts of the training very effective and experience-given. It is our believe that the cooperation between all parties such as trainers, management, employees and the training itself gave a wonderful experience for all involved.

The most exciting bit is perhaps to go back to work, when you see parts of the training are used in our daily work such as planning a meeting/training, setting goals and aims, getting feedback and making sure that our vision and knowledge are received and understood in the other end. Before we just delivered training without own goals. We only delivered what we were told to deliver and nothing more. Having the whole group involved in this training it also helped us to connect as a team and giving feedback to each other before and after a training or meeting.

The communication between the different parties worked very well due to open, clear, honest and effective communication.

We now have the power and knowledge to deliver a first class training. In the future we will probably have more and more training opportunities where this knowledge will be important. Thanks to this we are now able to conduct and maintain a different kind of high level training tasks. We are better prepared on how to deliver training and also take more training responsibilities in our group to grow and get more motivated together.
